Denmark have qualified for the European Championships in football six times during the 1984 to 2004 and took the 1992 title. Their list of achievements include the Confederations Cup (1995) and getting to the Worlds Championships in 1998. Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was named the “World's Best Goalkeeper” twice (1992 and 1993) and anybody who knows football in Denmark knows Michael Laudrup who is given the distinction by Danish Football Association the of being the best Danich player of all time.

Handball is another sport that Danish athletes are doing quite well in. The women's team had two successes in 1990 while their men's national team has taken home more medals than any other team in European Handball Championship's history. They won two gold (2008 and 2012) and three bronze from 2002 to 2006. Denmark has also sent athletes to the Summer Olympic Games since its inauguration in 1896 except for the 1904 Games. They have also participated in several Winter Games since 1948 which includes every Games since 1988.
