There were 17 sports at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, as listed below. The links provide more information about the history of each sport at the Commonwealth Games.
Tennis was on the program for the first time ever. A traditional sport of the region, kabaddi, was also a demonstration sport at the 2010 Games. Triathlon was excluded from these games as there was no suitable location for the swimming stage.
List of Sports for 2010
- Aquatics — held from 4 - 9 October 2010 for 38 Gold Medals. Swimming: 19 events for Men and 19 events for Women, Diving: 3 events for Men and 3 events for Women (plus 2 Synchronized Diving events), Synchronized Swimming: 2 events. Events were held at the SPM Swimming Pool Complex
- Archery — There were both Men and Women Events, held at two venues: the I. G. Indoor Stadium Complex and India Gate / Red Fort. Archery were played in the Games for the first time since 1982.
- Athletics — There were 46 events for Men & Women 44 events, held over seven days from 6 - 12 October. The Marathon were held on 14 October. Events were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
- Badminton — There were 6 events:Singles and Doubles matches for men and women, Mixed Doubles and Team Mixed. All events were held at the Siri Fort Sports Complex
- Boxing — Events were held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium
- Cycling — Events were held at the I. G. Indoor Stadium Complex
- Gymnastics — Events were held at the I. G. Indoor Stadium Complex
- Hockey — Events were held at the Maj. Dhyan Chand National Stadium
- Lawn Balls — Events were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
- Netball — Events were held at the Tyagaraj Sports Complex
- Rugby 7s — Events were held at the Delhi University
- Shooting — Events were held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range
- Squash — Events were held at the Siri Fort Sports Complex
- Table Tennis — Events were held at the Yamuna Sports Complex
- Tennis — Events were held at the R K Tennis Complex. This is the first time tennis were part of the Commonwealth Games
- Weight Lifting — Events were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
- Wrestling — Events were held at the I. G. Indoor Stadium Complex
