The 2015 World Swimming Championships was held in the Russian city of Kazan in 2011. It was the 16th FINA World Championships.
The event was held from Jul 24 to Aug 9. It was the first time that the World Aquatics Championships had been held in the Soviet Union or Russia.
Trivia
- Kazan an ancient city near the Volga River about 800 km (500 miles) east of Moscow, and is known as Russia’s sports city.
- The 2025 World Aquatic Championships were planned to be in Kazan, but was moved to Singapore following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Kazan hope to be awarded the 2029 event.
