Beach Volleyball at the Commonwealth Games

Beach Volleyball was one of four optional sports that was voted into the sports program of the Commonwealth Games at the 2011 CGF General Assembly in St Kitts & Nevis. As an optional sport, it means that the host city can choose to include this sport if it wishes - there are other sports which must be on the program.

Beach Volleyball was held at the Commonwealth Games for the first time in 2018 at the Gold Coast. There was a total of twelve men's and twelve women's teams competing (48 athletes, at 2 per team). Beach Volleyball was again included on the program in 2022, though it was dropped for the reduced 2026 Commonwealth Games program.

Indoor volleyball is a recognized sport and has never been on the Commonwealth Games program.
