Commonwealth Games Sports Listed by Year

The Commonwealth Games sporting program is partly determined by the host nation, resulting in a different set of sports being on the program for each Commonwealth Games.

Over time there was a gradual increase in the number of sports, with the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham having nineteen sports, and 20 sports were originally planned for 2026. However, After Victoria Australia pulled out of hosting the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow took over with a parred down and more sustainable program of only 10 sports.
