1956 Copa América in Uruguay
The 1956 Copa América was held in Uruguay. It was the 24th edition of the tournament.
The tournament saw the participation of six CONMEBOL nations—Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
The event was held in a round-robin format where each team played against the others once, and Uruguay emerged as the winner by finishing at the top of the standings, claiming their tenth Copa América title.
Trivia
- At the time the tournament was named the South American Championship. It was not called the Copa América until after 1967.
