A team from the Russian Empire competed at the Olympic Games in 1900, then in 1908 and 1912.
As well as athletes from the area of modern day Russia, the Russian Empire team also included athletes from the regions of Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Lithuania.
Trivia
- The Grand Duchy of Finland was part of the Russian Empire in 1908 and 1912 but their results are considered separately.
- A semi-final in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1912 between Russian Martin Klein and Finland's Alfred Asikainen took 11 hours. The winner Klein was too exhausted to compete in the final.
