The 1994 Tour de France, the 81st edition of the race, spanned 21 stages and covered a total distance of approximately 3,978 kilometers (2,472 miles). The race began in Lille and concluded in Paris.
Spanish cyclist Miguel Indurain secured his fourth consecutive Tour de France victory in 1994. Indurain's dominance was particularly evident in the time trials. He first took the yellow jersey after the stage 9 individual time trial and maintained his lead through consistent performances in the mountain stages. Indurain finished the race more than five minutes ahead of the second-place finisher, Latvian cyclist Piotr Ugrumov, with Italian Marco Pantani rounding out the podium in third place.

- The 1994 Tour was the second time that the event had visited England, with two stages across Kent, Sussex and Hampshire.
