The Coach of the Year award is a new award presented as part of the Ballon d'Or awards. There has already been a FIFA Coach of the Year Award since 2010.
The first awards for the men's and women's coach of the year was in 2024. It was also announced that the prize will be called the "Johan Cruyff Trophy".
The winners of the inaugural men's and women's coach of the year were announced at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony.
