The Chin skinfold site is one of the less common locations used for the assessment of body fat using skinfold calipers, and is not routinely used in the assessment of athletes. A few different descriptions of chin locations for taking skinfolds have been found, which may be effectively the same. See the complete list of skinfold sites, and the general procedure for taking skinfold measurements.
Description 1:
- A vertical fold rasied above the hyoid bone. The head is slightly lifted but the skin of the neck must stay loose.
Description 2:
- Under the mandible, along the fold running between the chin and the neck.
