1974 Commonwealth Games 1500m Final

All about the men’s 1500m at the 1974 Commonwealth Games held in Christchurch New Zealand. This has to be one of the greatest 1500m races of all time. Filbert Bayi of Tanzania raced to the front and took it to the rest of the field.
He held on to win in a time of 3:32.2 – a new world record by almost a full second. Local boy John Walker was happy with his second place, also beating the previous world record.

1986 Commonwealth Games 800m Steve Cram

A dominating performance by English runner Steve Cram at the 1986 Commonwealth Games 800m men held in Edinburgh, Scotland. His winning time was 1:42.22, a new Commonwealth Games record and and as the commentator said, it was the fastest time of the year to that point.

Interesting view of some highlights from the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games netball tournament. No commentary, just the sports of sport – makes you feel like you are there. In the final, the world champion’s New Zealand defeated the reigning Commonwealth Games champion Australia 60 to 55.

Johnson wins Seoul 1988 Olympics Men’s 100m Final

Ben Johnson wins by ‘a mile’ in the men’s 100m sprint event. His time was 9.79 seconds. He was very quickly stripped of his win as he tested positive to performance enhancing drugs. Second in the race (eventual gold medalist) was Carl Lewis and 3rd was UK runner Linford Christie. See more on the History of the Olympics 100m sprint.
