The Chin Up or Pull Up is quite a simple exercise, but it is often not performed well. Here are a few guys doing a maximum chin up test in the gym, and you can see how some do not quite get their chin up over the bar, while another does not straighten their arms. When conducting a chin up fitness test, it is important ot get the subject to perform the exercise correctly so that the results are meaningful and the test can be replicated and improvements noted.

How Not To Do A Sit Up

Here is how not to do a sit up. This video clip is a commercial to inform children of fitness test retakes. Performed by Nick Kosiak from Wheeling High School. Apparently the footage is not sped up, only slowed down at certain points to show Nick’s awkward sit-up technique.

One Minute Curl Up Test of Core Strength

Here is a group of people performing a one-minute sit up test. They are using the technique of having their hands on their thighs, and sliding them up to their knees. Having the hands like this is a much more controlled method of doing the sit up, compared to some other methods where there is a lot of bouncing and erratic movements.

One Minute Sit Up Fitness Test

Here is a group of students performing the one minute sit up test. They are using the technique of having their feet held down (using something attached to the wall) and their arms across their chest. As you can see, it can be difficult to see what is a valid sit up, and also the erratic movements are potentially dangerous.
