On Topend Sports we have a section on new sports, where we get submissions from those wanting to promote the new sport they have invented. Some are great ideas that could potentially become popular worldwide, while other are wild ideas that maybe should be kept to themselves. The latest submission was stupid robot fighting from New Zealand. Sports that involve robots is not a stupid idea in itself, as there are already competitions of Robot Sports, including robot combat. Have a look and see what you think of this new robot fighting sport variation.

Hantis Championship Highlights from 2010
April 8th, 2013 · No Comments · Unusual
Here is a highlight video of the Hantis Players’ Championship in 2010. It is a sport dreamed up by a few US high school students. It is a sport for everyone – anyone can play with minimal cost outlay (you just need any four tables and a ball). It is a new sport to me, though very impressive. These players have great skills, and it is exciting to watch – this may be a new sport that really takes off. See more about Hantis.

Bog Snorkelling in Wales
September 20th, 2011 · No Comments · Unusual
The World Bog Snorkeling Championship has been held along the dense Waen Rhydd Peat bog near Llanwrtyd Wells, in Powys, Wales since 1985. It may be a world championships, but you can see on this video that not all competitors take it seriously. Competitors need to complete a return swim along the 55m bog lap, with no conventional swimming strokes allowed. Goggles and flippers are essential though if you want to go anywhere. A record 84 seconds was set in 2011. See more on the bog snorkelling world championships.

Two-Handed Tennis
August 15th, 2010 · No Comments · Tennis, Unusual
Two-Racket Tennis sounds unusual, but makes a lot of sense. If you have a pretty poor backhand, why not hold a racket in each hand and just hit forehands all day. You will also have a greater reach and reduce arm fatigue and be better balanced. It just cost a little more having to buy and extra tennis racket.
Marathon Joggling Training

A nicely edited video showing someone in training for a joggling marathon. As weird as it sounds, it looks natural to be running and juggling at the same time.

January 3rd, 2010 · No Comments · Unusual
Joggling is an unusual sport which combines running and juggling. There are events ranging from 100m up to the marathon. In this video example, Eric Walter runs the 400m while juggling 3 balls (Joggling), setting an Official Guinness World Record of 55.81 sec. As per the rules, if a ball is dropped, the athlete has to return to the place that the ball was dropped. See more about the sport of Joggling.
New Zealand Extreme Sport of Zorbing
October 20th, 2009 · No Comments · Unusual
Another unusual extreme sport from New Zealand, Zorb Ball Extreme Sport (Zorbing) is taking a little while to catch on, but looks like a lot of fun. I dont really know if it is a sport if you just roll down a hill in a ball. Is it a race to the bottom?
