The leading goal kicker in the Australia Rules VFL/AFL home-and-away season is currently awarded the Coleman Medal, named after John Coleman, a former Essendon full forward (he scored 537 goals in just 98 games). Prior to 1955, the VFL awarded the Leading Goalkicker Medal. Below is a list of the winners of either award since 1897.
The most goals scored in a single home-and-away season was 146 by Peter Hudson in 1970. Including the finals, he scored a record 150 goals in the following year. Collingwood player Dick Lee won the award a record eight times - in 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910, 1914, 1916, 1917 and 1919.
