3 Ball Juggling - Step-by-step instructions
1. Start with one ball:
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, arms at about waist height.
- Toss the ball from one hand to the other in an arc, aiming for eye level. Practice until you can consistently toss and catch smoothly.
2. Move to two balls:
- Hold one ball in each hand.
- Toss the first ball in an arc to the opposite hand. When it reaches the top of the arc, toss the second ball under it. Catch both balls.
- Practice alternating which hand starts the juggling pattern. Focus on maintaining a consistent rhythm.
3. Introduce a third ball:
- Hold two balls in your dominant hand and one in the other.
- Toss the first ball from your dominant hand to the other hand. When it reaches its peak, toss the ball from your non-dominant hand to your dominant hand.
- As the second ball reaches its peak, toss the third ball under it. Continue catching and tossing in this pattern.
4. Practice the cascade pattern:
- Keep the balls moving in a circular "cascade" pattern, where each ball is thrown under the previous one.
- Focus on maintaining a smooth, consistent arc and avoiding quick or low tosses.
Tips:
- Start with slow, controlled tosses.
- Avoid rushing. Let each ball reach its peak before tossing the next.
- Practice over a bed or soft surface to make it easier to pick up dropped balls.
With consistent practice, you'll soon be juggling three balls!
Move on to 4 Ball Juggling
Juggling with 4 balls - the challenge continues.
The most important and challenging aspect of four ball juggling is your left and right hand throwing evenly. Here are some practice and warm up exercises using two balls.
- throw balls simultaneously ensuring they peak at the same height
- two ball in one hand throwing in a circular pattern
- two balls in one hand throwing in parallel
exercises 2 and 3 are vital in four ball juggling - so practice hard, and before moving on to four balls ensure your left and right hand throw evenly
Ready!! Four ball juggling makes use of an illusion. The same two balls will remain in that hand - they do not cross over. The effect is simply achieved by throwing from each hand alternately. Four balls does take time to master, so don't get disheartened, the end result is well worth the wait!!
